Mid-Day Meal

In riverine Bangladesh, there are several inaccessible char areas. The locals here have to travel miles to get minimal medical services and medicine. There is no alternative to horseback riding or walking on foot, which is the only means of transportation. In this region, where employment opportunities and sources of income are limited, there is also a lack of basic and civic amenities. Every year, Prokriti O Jibon Shastho Seba Kendro provides free medical check-ups and medicine to the helpless and distressed people in these remote areas, with the aim of serving humanity.

Since June 2022, the “Mid-Day Meal” program has been implemented at Pirujali Government Primary School in Gazipur. To prevent students from dropping out, a nutritious and balanced mid-day meal is provided five days a week. As a result, student attendance has increased, along with their interest in learning and participation in other school activities.

In our society, there are many helpless and orphaned children who take refuge in various Hafizia madrasas and orphanages, hoping for basic food and education. However, due to the large number of students in these institutions, it is often challenging to ensure sufficient food and nutrition for all. Starting in September 2022, an initiative was launched to provide 50 kilograms of rice per month for 70 students of Pirujali Goharullah Government Hafizia Madrasa and Orphanage. This support will continue in the coming years.
